With schools not teaching cursive.,,we'll have people looking at the Declaration of Independence the same as if they are looking at Heiroglyphics - totally clueless.
Right! It was one thing for your mother to say, "Grandma sends her love," and another to receive a "grown up" envelope with your name on it - just like mommy and daddy got
It is hard to believe that they would stop teaching cursive. People won't have a need doing everything by computer which is truly crazy and hard to believe. I remember getting two pen pals at the '64-'65 World's Fair and I wrote to them for years. Since long distance was expensive, sent letters to my grandma, my aunts and cousins living in other states. Remember the excitement when the mailman came to our door and there was a eltter addressed to ME!!! ;-)
While listening to a radio talk show recently, I heard that some schools have decided to discontinue lessons in cursive handwriting. They believe it's no longer relevant today because "everyone" uses computers. Can you imagine? Future generations may not be able to decipher historical documents because they're written in cursive. Yikes!
