There were no straight Stooges. When Ted Healy was around, the group was known as, "Ted Healy and his Stooges." Why wouldn't he have counted himself as one of them?

There were six members of "The Three Stooges":Loyaltubist.. Moe Howard,Larry Fine..and in "The Third Stooge"position:Shemp Howard,Curly Howard,Joe Besser and "Curly Joe"DeRita..the co-founder and first streight man of the team was Ted Healy.

My friends and I knew the Stooge slaps and pokes weren't real and not meant to be used on each other for real.Read about kids hurting each other imitating the Stooges.We knew better.Although I broke the handle of a toy six gun over friend Mickey's noggin after watching Nick Adams do the same in an episode of 'The Rebel.' Did I get a beating!
