The DuMont television network
Although it was only on the air from 1946-1956, DuMont broadcast several notable programs, including:
- the first TV situation comedy, Mary Kay and Johnny
- the first network-TV soap opera, Faraway Hill
- Cavalcade of Stars, a variety show hosted by Jackie Gleason
- Ted Mack's The Original Amateur Hour
- The Morey Amsterdam Show, a comedy/variety show
- Captain Video and His Video Rangers
- The Arthur Murray Party, a dance program
- Cash and Carry, the first network-TV game show
- The Ernie Kovacs Show

TV Network..when Dumount was closed down in September of 1958..
it became a local independent NYC based tv station:WNEW TV Ch.5.
From their debut in the late 1940's..WPIX TV Ch.11,WOR TV Ch.9
in NYC and WATV/WNTA TV Ch.13 in Newark,N.J. were local independent
TV Stations..Ch.13 didn't become a part of the National Educational TV Network
until 1962.
And 13 was the "educational" channel.
