Yes, the cat's name was Midnight.  That poor cat always looked uncomfortable to me. I remember Froggy's phrase as being "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy!".

I remember watching:"Andy's Gang!"saturday mornings on WNBC TV Ch.5 in NYC from the late 1950's to 1960'.
