In the late 1960s, I bought a used 1959 Ford Fairlane hardtop convertible. By flipping a switch, the hardtop would unscrew from the top of the windshield, the trunk would open (it was hinged at the rear of the car), and the hardtop would move into the trunk. Then the trunk would close. Operate the switch again, and the process would reverse.
I don't recall whether I made a modification or if it was standard, but the car could be moving when the switch was operated to lower or raise the hardtop. I had fun with that.
