When I started Tech School for my A.A.S. that is what we used in our Trig & Advanced Algebra classes. I got a kick out of watching Apollo 13 showing them using their slide Rules to figure out how to get them back.

I have my late father's old slide rule but I have no idea how it works. However, I also have the accompanying instruction book. Math was never my thing so I doubt I'll ever get around to learning how to use it.
