I remember "The Adventures Of Lariat Sam"..he was a sheriff..who with the aide of his intelligent talking horse pal"Tippy Toes"..they would foil the evil deeds of"Badlands Meanie"..and his not too bright henchman"Bushwick"..these cartoons were seen on"Captain Kangaroo"weekday mornings on CBS TV in the early 1960's. The films were produced by the same studio that created"Mighty Mouse","Heckle & Jeckle" and"Tom Terrific".."Terrytoons".
Dayton Allen(a former regular comedy performer and puppeteer on"Howdy Doody" and cartoon vo performer anc comedy asistant on"Winky Dink")did all of the voices on"Lairat Sam".
This was a short lived series that was on Capt. Kangaroo in 1961. It featured Sam, the sherrif of Bent Saddle. I don't recall much, because it started the fall I started kindergarten, and I had to catch the bus every morning just before it started. The funniest thing I remember is that the towns people were referred to as Bent Saddle-ites. The first pun I ever understood, and appropriate as it was the begining of the space race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.
