The model here is Peggy Moffitt (born 1940) who was married to Gernreich's photographer William Claxton. She is most famous for being the only one to model Gernreich's monokini. They couldn't get anyone to model it (including prostitutes) so her husband took some private pictures at home wearing it. Gernreich paid the Claxtons quite a bit of money, but Peggy felt exploited when the picture hit Women's Wear Daily on June 3, 1964. (The previous day, a back view shot was seen in Look magazine.) But she thinks it's a beautiful picture.
