The Instamatic 100 used flash bulbs. The newer Instamatic 104 model used flash cubes. That is what put the Instamatic on the map. Of course the Magicube was to follow needing no batteries. They all used the 126 cartridge film. These actually took somewhat decent pictures as compared to the more recent Instamatic 110 which took pretty bad pictures. The Kodak Disk camera was a gimic that took just plain horrible pictures and was to end the popular Instamatic camera era.
my brother got one for his 12th birthday June 1965....this quickly replaced the old Brownie as our family camera...NO hiding in a closet to change film!!
