I hadn't seen toothbrushes like this in shops for about 20 years but I was delighted to discover today that they are still sold online at http://www.gumbrand.com/toothbrushes/adult-manual-toothbrushes/classic-toothbrush-311pc-c.html. I ordered 14 of them, which cost $25.06 and, since the total was over $25, shipping is free.
All those toothbrushes in the shops, with their handles that swoop this way and that, are designed to be held in one position only. I'm looking forward to getting back to toothbrushes that can easily be held however I want. (I remove the gum stimulators on the end because they get in the way.)
The only issue used to be that some toothbrushes had rubber "gum massager" bits at the far end of the handle, and wouldn't fit in a standard holder such as the one pictured here.
But now...
Head shape? Head size? Bristle stiffness? Bristle length? Bristle color? Handle shape? Handle cartoon character? The number of choices now approaches the number of varieties of Coca-Cola on the supermarket shelves. And some of them, no doubt, double as USB flash drives or play MP3 files while you brush.
