My grandpa bought a Falcon, the exact same shade of 'baby Blue' as the Falcon in the photo. He took such good care of it, that when he died in 72, the car looked like it just drove off the showroom floor.
My first car was a brown 1962 with the little six and three on the tree. Bought a thrush muffler from Canadian Tire, leaf spring jack up kit and a leather seat cover to go with the furry dice swinging from the rear view mirror. Eight track stereo with speakers in the trunk. What a chick magnet. lol
Recall driving in the rain, cars with vacuum wipers stopped working when passing another car. Had to pause and get off the gas and let the wipers clear off the windshield in order to see ahead.
I had a '61 with the 144 CID engine and a 3 speed on the column. Was the slowest accelerating vehicle I ever drove. Loved the way the windshield wipers stopped when you accelerated.
I had a 1961 four-door Falcon in dark blue and drove it for 10 years until it would no longer pass inspection in NY State. Bad ball joints in the front suspension. Neatest thing about that car is that it had a manual choke on the dashboard so, properly set, it would start dependably in any weather.
