I have kept my Audio Technica AT-125 LC cartridge and stylus (needle) that I purchased in 1982, still play record albums, and it is still perfectly good. It's been on four different turntables. There's still a lot of cartridges/stylus' to chose from today. Visit needledoctor.com to see how many are still being made.

Now that phonograph needles are unknown to the modern generation, the Groucho Marx joke isn't going to make sense anymore:

OMG I forgot about the needles for the record player..... that was an expensive expense and you had to be so careful that you didn't damage the tip of it......
