I was just a lad of 11 when that event occured. Everybody in our house was in awe, and we had a celebration not too long after they touched down on the lunar surface. I wished i could've saved my copy of The Los Angeles Times. Anyone that has that, considering the condition, I'm sure tney would fetch a pretty handsome amount of cash. Oh, we had a 19" B/W Zenith CRT TV to watch the event.
I recall watching this on a b & w tv monitor in a classroom. My memory suggests a monitor which was suspended from the ceiling. Was it that first historical moment in 1969 or the last landing in 1972? My memory banks are fading. Did the tv networks play a recorded event or was it broadcast live?
I was a counselor at a summer camp in New Hampshire, and the camp owners brought in a TV projector (pretty exotic for the time) so everyone could watch the event in the social hall. (This is one of those cases where I have a distinct memory of the event and circumstances, but the year doesn't seem to match up with when I think I was at the camp...)
