My first new car was a 63 Monza coupe. White with black interior, 80 horse engine with a three speed that cost $2085 out the door. Drove it 63000 miles in three years and traded it in on a used 65 Corvair Monza convertible. Traded that on a 68 Buick Gran Sport convertible but that is another story

AHH, this is the car I had but not the Monza, just 2 door in that greenish turquise color.

The automatic lever did protrude from the dash, like the Chrysler cars of '55.

My grandfather had one of these--and best I remember, the transmission was a lever-type.
