This is a great photo! I never thought I would every say that about a "photo op" taken in a grocery store of all places. Some of our members have great eye-vision care . The only indication of the prices that I notice is the gentlemen cashier on the bottom left of the photo who is holding a grocery item in his left hand as he is placing his right hand on the key pad. The amount of the last item he rang in looks like "$0.23" Crazy. One of the members noticed and yes indeed, the young lad standing next to the candy display is looking dapper, and well-disciplined too, standing with hands in his pockets. I expected customers waiting in line to be smiling (because of the prices) but, I am a humanoid living in 2016 and I suppose lining up at the cash register in 1964 didn't offer an appealing, smile-inducing past time. Again, great photo. Thanks for posting it.
You can see the Brach's purple/pink striped candy display on the left edge of the photo, just above the number 5 signpost for cash register five.
Just to the right of that, you can also see a kid looking longingly at all that candy.
I used to like the Brach's nougats, which were those chewy white rectangles with jelly beans embedded in them. Where the jelly beans stuck out beyond the rectangles, they got sliced off at angles that made colorful ovals in the white.
