Luggage storage lockers at airports
In the U.S., these disappeared after the 1975 bombing at LaGuardia airport in New York City.

You can still find them at airports outside the U.S.

The kind I remember had a key that could only be turned and removed once you had inserted four quarters. In the 1975 incident, the bomb was in a locker in the baggage claim area. Couldn't lockers still be provided now, beyond the TSA checkpoint, the luggage having been scanned by then? Security issues aside, I guess that the need for lockers dropped as wheeled luggage gained in popularity; easier to just bring it along when dining or shopping prior to your flight.
